Yeah, I figure I've been around long enough to be vaguely recognized, but just ~vaguely~
If you like Murakami's works, I recommend 'Butter' by Asako Yuzuki. It has this element to it that is similar to a lot of his work, but like, written by a woman. It is feminist, but in a kind of real way that is not very surface level. I've been enjoying Japanese authors a lot lately, it's very different from what (I think) we're used to, so I really recommend getting into it.
I’ll look into it, thank you for the recommendation. I’ve only read a few Japanese authors, but there is definitely a unified sort of listlessness that they all had. Probably because they were all from authors born in the 1940’s - 1960’s
